It took a 5-under-par 67 at The Preserve in Pequot Lakes, Minn., for former University of Wisconsin golfer Sam Anderson to get into a 7-for-3 playoff for the final spots in this week's PGA Tour Canada event.

It took another 5-under-par effort over six playoff holes for him to join two other Wisconsin golfers in qualifying for the CRMC Championship presented by Gertens at Cragun's Dutch Legacy Championship Course in Brainerd, Minn.

Former Marquette golfer Tyler Leach of Spring Valley qualified second with a 7-under 65 and former UW golfer Clayton Tribus of Madison finished T-4 with a 6-under 66. They will join the four PGA Tour Canada regulars with Wisconsin ties — Oconomowoc's George Kneiser (No. 10 on the Fortinet Cup standings), Chippewa Falls' Thomas Longbella (No. 22), Brookfield's Harrison Ott (No. 62) and former Badgers golfer Jordan Hahn (No. 86) — in the CRMC field.

Anderson made one of five birdies on the first playoff hole (No. 1), which saw one golfer advance with an eagle and one eliminated with a par.

Anderson made one of three pars on the second playoff hole (No. 2), which saw one golfer advance with a birdie.

Anderson made one of three birdies on the third playoff hole (No. 11), which saw one golfer eliminated with a par.

Anderson made one of two pars on the fourth playoff hole (No. 17), which saw one golfer eliminated with a par to leave Anderson and University of Minnesota golfer Ben Warian to battle for the final spot.

Anderson and Warian made birdies on the fifth playoff hole (No. 18) to force a sixth extra hole. Anderson reached the green on the par-5 first hole in two and made an 8-foot putt for eagle to earn the final spot.

"It’s funny; I played the Monday Q last week in Winnipeg, shot 4-under and was in a 10-for-5 playoff, but didn't get through," Anderson wrote in a text message to Wisconsin.Golf. "Mondays are Mondays. However, I feel like up here you can be less pressed assuming scores won’t be as low at (Korn Ferry Tour) or PGA Tour Mondays. It’s kind of go out and play your game and if you get in, good. If not, onto the next week, (next) event Monday Q or whichever."
